Start-Up Grant

The Office of Child Care and Care About Childcare has funding available for individuals wishing to get a Family or Family Group Child Care License. Up to $350 is given to providers to cover costs of initial licensing fees and expenses. The grant is a reimbursement after the expenses have already incurred.

You will need to keep receipts from purchases you make, such as:
  • Bureau of Licensing fees
  • Business license fees
  • Fire inspection fees
  • Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, first aid kits
  • First aid and CPR training
  • Food Handler's permit training
  • TB test fee
  • 5-hour Basic Child Care training fee

You will be required to attend the 5-hour Basic Child Care training in order to receive the Start-Up Grant. E-mail or call us at 1-800-543-7527 to request an application and to get more details about the grant.

CAC Welcome Grant

This grant is for programs that have not received a CAC grant in the past. Programs can receive one CAC grant per fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

Welcome Grant Amounts:

Grant funds can be used to purchase safe, appropriate, child care materials from any Early Care and Education supply company that has an online ordering system that accepts Visa.

  • $350-Licensed Family Child Care and Certer with a capacity of 16 or less
  • $750-Licensed Center with a capcity of 17-75
  • $1000-Licensed Center with a capacity of 76-174
  • $1250-Licensed Center with a capacity of 175 or more

Welcome Grant Requirements:

  • Have not received a CAC grant in the past
  • Complete "My Markeking" page with a program statement and program pictures
  • Update "My Facility" information including a staff update within the previous 3 months
  • Turn in completed and current equipment inventories for your program
  • Achieve at least 10 quality criteria, with at least one criteria from each of the six quality indicators. All criteria achieved must have an active between May 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015.

CAC Renewal Grant

This grant is for programs that have received a CAC grant in the past and have added, or renewed, their CAC criteria between May 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Programs can receive one CAC grant per fiscal year (July 1-June 30).

New Family Provider Grant

The Department of Workforce Services (DWS), Office of Child Care (OCC) is releasing a non-competitive grant to improve the quality of care provided by licensed family child care programs that were not operating prior to October 1, 2013. Applicants must meet the qualifications listed under “Eligibility Requirements” and submit a complete application in accordance with this RFGA to be considered for a grant. Grant money may be used to purchase equipment, learning materials, better prepare for emergencies, and acquire informational resources on children and families.
